Saints Row 3 Revealed

Nov 03, 2008 - 7:02 PM - by Sharaz
Quote:
Volition producer Dan Sutton says work has already begun on the next installment of its GTA-esque action series, which will "take new direction."

When Saints Row 2 was announced in May 2007, THQ promised that the game would have a darker tone than its semicomic predecessor. Sometime over the next year, though, that premise was totally abandoned. This past May, THQ debuted a trailer that played up how much more over the top and comical Saints Row 2 is when compared to Grand Theft Auto IV, the grimmer-than-usual latest entry in Rockstar Games' blockbuster series.

Now the minds behind Saints Row 2 are once again saying that the series will take a new tack in its next outing--which is already being worked on. Speaking with British gaming site Play.tm, Volition associate producer Dan Sutton said that his studio has "started work on Saints Row 3, and we have a new direction we want to go in with that, which we of course can't talk about." When asked how different the sequel would be, Sutton would only say "very."

No release date or platforms have been confirmed for Saints Row 3. Saints Row 2 went on sale earlier this month for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with a PC version due out early next year.

Not exactly a shocker seeing as how so much was left out in terms of story and characters from Saint’s Row 2 from the original game. The GTA’s just made new stories that would refer to other characters or would give them a small part in the new stories/city.

Makes me wonder what huge changes they got in mind.

Well even though it was confirmed in a vague way some months ago, the presence of a site certainly confirms things.

Xbox 360 Live Dashboard Update

Oct 14, 2008 - 5:30 PM - by Sharaz
Beginning November 19, Xbox 360 gamers will receive the free dashboard update to Xbox Live, which will include an avatar-based community system, integration with Netflix's on-demand movie service, and the ability to install games to the console's hard drive.

Play from Hard Drive. Copy your games from the game disc and play directly from the hard drive. Not only will the drive not spin, but load times are quicker, as well. Of course, you will still need the disc in the tray to prove you own the game.

Access Xbox LIVE Marketplace on the Web. Browse and purchase Marketplace content whenever you want from Xbox.com and it downloads automatically to your console. Purchase that new map, television episode, the latest Xbox LIVE Arcade game or set up a movie to watch when you get home from work.

Dashboard built into the new Xbox Guide. For everyone who loves the blades interface, it’s not going away; they are now built directly in to the new Xbox guide. Every feature and option is available right from the guide. You can even access your full games library at all times. No matter where you are (in dash or in game), immediately call up your games played list and directly launch a game.

LIVE Party system. Create a party of up to eight friends, and stay with them from one game to another, or watch a Netflix movie together, or share a slideshow of your personal photos. It works with all Xbox 360 titles, not just upcoming games. LIVE Party allows up to eight people to chat in the dashboard, so you can meet up before playing.

Xbox LIVE Primetime. This whole new category of games is going to give you more reasons to get online with your friends. Games will support everything you’d expect, like Achievements and leader boards, but many of these games will include real prizes. You can invite your friends, and even set a reminder for an upcoming show. Each game is broadcast simultaneously, so everyone is answering the same questions. Many events will have a live host, calling the shots as they happen.

Avatars. Your online identity started as a Gamertag - it then grew into a personalized Gamercard. Now, it has evolved even further into avatars. You can express your style, check out new outfits and share this with the community. Avatars will also be integrated into Xbox LIVE Arcade games, LIVE Party, as well as retail games.

New display support. Because you asked for it, we are adding 16X10 over VGA or HDMI, and support for 1440x900 or 1680x1050.

Diablo III Wizard class

Oct 13, 2008 - 12:19 PM - by Denny Crane
Well IGN reports from the Blizzcon state that the next class in the upcoming Diablo 3 game are the Wizards which really is just another name for the Sorceress.

The Wizard is a spellcaster class with a wide range of magical abilities. The IGN article has a video that showcases her in battle as she enters the tomb of an undead being. I quite like the voice of the boss actually.

Starcraft II Blizzcon News

Oct 13, 2008 - 11:50 AM - by Denny Crane
IGN and several other places are reporting that we might not get a single Starcraft II game but infact three. The games going to be split up with each version having a campaign devoted to a single race. We start off with the Terrans and end with the Protoss.

Also, we have a new cinematic up for the game which is quite interesting to see.
